EMERGENCE Music Event

On Saturday evening (6/21) of the AMC, we keep it going as all registered conference participants get treated to an unrelentingly dope night of media music to mobilize the movement.

This conference after-party is $10 if you are not registered for the AMC. At the Music Box in the Max M. Fisher Music Center (pictured below in all its fanciness). Doors at 7PM. Cash bar and a cash buffet at the event.

This event is co-sponsored by our friends at EMERGENCE and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra "8 Days in June" festival.

FEATURED PERFORMERS:

ANOMOLIES

(NYC / L.A. / Detroit)
ANOMOLIES is an all female collective with members spanning across the hiphop spectrum including emcees, deejays, b-girls, producers, visual artists, and beyond. There are 5 core members of the crew: Helixx (MC), Pri the Honey Dark (MC/Producer), Kuttin Kandi (DJ), Big Tara (B-girl/MC), and Invincible (MC). It is a truly rare occasion to have all core members of the ANS crew in one place and we are extremely excited for them to rock the AMC.

All Natural

(Chicago)
All Natural is DJ Tone B. Nimble and MC capital D. Hailing from Chicago, All Natural is a classic two-man Hip-Hop duo. Both in their music and live show, the tandem builds off of 2 essential elements of Hip-Hop (the DJ & MC). The name All Natural describes the group's demeanor and approach to music. The group drops Hip-Hop music in its purest form, while also pushing the artform forward.

Jamie Register & the Glendales

(Ann Arbor)
Described by one Detroit newspaper as “Janis Joplin meets James Brown meets Erykah Badu meets Jim Morrison,” Jamie Register is a gem of a musician. Jamie has earned her degree in “chops” and masters in “soul” from playing in various ensembles for the past decade including Cloud Nine Music and NOMO.

Invincible

(Detroit)
Invincible's spitfire wordplay has gotten her acclaim from Hip Hop fans all across the world, while her active involvement in progressive social change has taken her music beyond entertainment, and towards actualizing the change she wishes to see. Dubbed by XXL Magazine as "every A&Rs worst nightmare" for rejecting major label deals and general industry politrix, Invincible started her own record label, EMERGENCE, self-releasing her long-awaited full length LP, ShapeShifters, June, 2008.

Finale

(Detroit)

DJ Sicari the Assassin

(Detroit)
While readying his No Doz Mix Tape, Sicari has been busy writing grant proposals and working on a project with the University of Michigan to reduce the higher rates of coronary disease in the city. “DJing is a tool to connect with people. I want to use hip hop to change and save lives. That’s my mission in life.”
