Submit Sessions
Session proposals are now closed. The deadline for proposals was March 28. You may still send something in, however preference will be given to proposals that came in before the deadline.
Help make the AMC a reality. Be a part of the best AMC ever!
Below you will find the AMC session proposal form. You can use the form to make a suggestion for something you would like to see at the AMC, or you can propose a session that you will organize and present.
The first thing you should do, especially if you've never attended the AMC, is check out last year's program and familiarize yourself with the kinds of sessions that the conference presents.
At the AMC you will find:
- hands-on skill-shares (art, print, video, radio, new media, etc.)
- community-building and organizing through media
- creative ways of using media for protest and action
- media and popular education
- strategies for expanding our access (to radio, the internet, television, etc.)
- conversations about the future of our media and social movements
- how to build and share open source and DIY technology tools
- models of economic sustainability for our organizations
- models of leadership and leadership development
We like sessions that:
- are interactive and creative
- build off ideas from last year's AMC, rather than repeat
- are particularly relevant to the conference vision (Please read it before submitting a proposal)
There are four kinds of sessions:
- Workshops: These run the gamut in terms of topics. Review last year's workshops to get a sense. We love "how-to" workshops, from both an introductory to an advanced level. We encourage presenters to think creatively about how to make content as accessible as possible (for example, how to video-blog if you don't have a mac, or if the library is your primary source for internet access).
- Panel Discussions: Moderators of panels need to draw out essential ideas and questions from panelists and then bring the room of AMC participants into the discussion. Last year's panel discussions.
- FIlm Presentations: We give preference to presentations that are not just screenings, but involve discussion with filmmakers or festival curators. Last year's films.
- Caucuses and Meet-Ups: Opportunities for people with a common interest to come together and strategize. Last year's caucuses.
This year we have new options for session lengths:
- 90 minutes: standard length
- 3 hours: ideal for in-depth trainings or strategy sessions
- 10 minutes: a snapshot of your website, tech tool, organization, etc.
