Bio

Ora Wise, daughter of a rabbi and born in Jerusalem, is getting her masters in Jewish Education and develops curricula and teaches at a progressive synagogue in Brooklyn. For several years she was a media spokesperson for the national student divestment movement and organized with Jews Against the Occupation in NYC. She then co-founded the Palestine/Israel Education Project, which facilitates multi-media workshops in high schools and youth groups connecting the history of Palestine to struggles against racism and colonialism in the US. PEP is also working with Break the Silence in the Bay Area, Lajee Center in Aida Refugee Camp, and other youth organizations in Palestine and the US on developing a US-Palestine youth institute focusing on art and media skills. She is also on the coordinating committee of an emerging international network of anti-Zionist Jews.

U.S.-Palestine Youth Solidarity Network
Organization Mission Statement

The U.S.-Palestine Youth Solidarity Network shares strategies for resistance and builds the media and digital arts capacity of Palestinian youth organizations and U.S.-based youth organizations serving immigrant and low-income youth from communities of color. A joint cultural and political Youth Leadership Institute will be launched Summer 2008, focusing on workshops that combine youth leadership development and arts-based programming including digital storytelling, spoken word, traditional forms of music and dance, hip hop, theater, murals and other forms of public art, and printmaking.

Following the Youth Leadership Institute, youth and their organizations will maintain relationships that include on-going technical assistance and program development, maintenance of an exchange between participating youth through Internet platforms, as well as resource support from U.S. youth organizations to Palestinian programs.

This innovative project is a partnership between Break the Silence Mural Project (Bay Area), Middle East Children's Alliance (Bay Area), Palestine Education Project (NYC), Palestinian youth organizations Baladna (Haifa), Lajee Center (Aida refugee camp) and Ibdaa (Dheishah refugee camp), and numerous other U.S. and Palestinian youth organizations.
