Bio: 
Diana Nucera, Teaching Artist - Diana Nucera, accomplished cellist, artist, and instructor, has been dedicated to teaching and working in the media arts for the past eight years. Diana earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and film from the San Francisco Art Institute, and her Master of Fine Arts in Art and Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has devoted her artistic talents and her educational philosophy to integrating media arts in both Chicago and San Francisco Public School curricula, and has exhibited her own work, multi-media performance and video installations, throughout San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and in Austria, Australia, and Scotland. Diana has supported young people in their self-exploration through media arts at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The San Francisco Art Institute, The Luggage Store Gallery, San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art, Southern Exposure Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and is currently in residence as a media instructor and summer arts coordinator at Street-Level Youth Media in Chicago, IL. At Street-Level Youth Media she has created opportunities for Street-level youth through building relationships with The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (C.A.P.E). She is also currently consulting for C.A.P.E leading workshops on media arts integration in academic curricula, creating curricula that can effectively reach a majority of learning styles, using creative processes as a method of self-discovery in the class room, and creating effective evaluation and assessment tools for the class room to teachers of the Chicago Public School system. Her expertise crosses many borders with vast knowledge in education, audio arts and production, video installation and production, graphics and web design, interactive multi-media programming, performance, fine arts, youth media, curriculum studies, program development, science, and technology. Outside of the classroom and art gallery, Diana has an amazing ability to bring people together. She is an active member of the National Advisory Board for the Allie Media Conference helping construct a strong national community of organizers, educators, and activist working towards media and educational justic.

Organization Mission Statement: 
Street-Level Youth Media educates Chicago's urban youth in media arts and emerging technologies for use in self-expression, communication, and social change. Street-Level's programs build critical thinking skills for young people who have been historically neglected by public policy makers and mass media. Using video and audio production, computer art and the Internet, Street-Level's youth address community issues, access advanced communication technology and gain inclusion in our information-based society. CAPE advances the arts as a vital strategy for improving teaching and learning by increasing students¹ capacity for academic success, critical thinking and creativity.
