Bio: 
lauren hails from detroit/ann arbor, michigan and has been independently publishing her writing for 10 years. first falling in love with zines, she published arrowed from 1997-2001, switchgear from 2003-2005 and has self-published 6 poetry chapbooks. she has been involved in beantown zinetown, AMC and organized the NYC zine conference in 2000. she is a poet, activist and teacher, though she has been on a publishing hiatus while turning her writing skills toward a small grassroots wellness company for 3 years. now leaving her beloved 2nd home of brooklyn and touching down in michigan to receive her MA from the Univerity of Michigan and student-teach on the southwest side (Earhart Middle School, what up doe?), she is looking to become involved and make connections in Detroit, where she will begin her teaching work in 2008.

rightrides for women's safety
Organization Mission Statement: 
The mission of RightRides For Women’s Safety, Inc. is to build safer communities by reducing the risk of harassment and sexual assault. We accomplish this through community organizing, offering direct service programs, plus fostering greater safety awareness and individual empowerment in our related educational programs. In our RightRides program, we offer women, transpeople and gender queer individuals a free, late-night ride home to ensure their safe commute to or through high-risk areas.
